Traders in the Ashanti region are elated as work on phase two of the Kejetia-Central Market redevelopment project resumes after being halted for over a year.
They are now urging government to ensure the project’s prompt completion, alleviating concerns that it might be used as a political tool in the upcoming general elections.
The redevelopment project, which began in 2022, was abandoned in early 2023 due to funding issues, causing frustration among traders and residents.
Persistent calls and threats of demonstrations by the local community to urge the government to release funds for the project’s resumption have finally borne fruit.
Expressing their excitement, the traders have emphasised the need for the government to expedite the completion of the project.
