On March 3, 2024, Ablekuma South Constituency embraced the United GaDangme Caucus making it the 16th constituency to join the United GaDangme Caucus train. The event which was held at Korle Gonno saw a very good attendance led by the constituency chairman and his executives.
Some of the constituency executives took turns to address the gathering on the need for a United GaDangme front of the NDC into the 2024 general elections.
In his presentation, Hon Nii Lantey Vanderpuye (MP for Odododiodioo Constituency) led the gathering into observing a minute silence for our departed Comrade, Lawyer Aristo Aryee who joined the angelic choir couple of days ago. Pastor Allotey led the prayers to commit Lawyer Aryee’s soul to his maker and for God’s comfort to his family and friends for their great lost particularly the NDC party.
Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye a cousin to the sitting MP of the constituency Hon Alfred Oko Vanderpuye (Tentse) minced no words when he tauted the contribution of the constituency to the birth and development of the NDC party. He mentioned the likes of Hon E. T. Mensah (of blessed memory), Hon Quaynor Mettle among many other party stalwarts from the constituency and called on all members to emulate their sacrifices to the party.
He recounted the history of the PNDC to NDC and the sterling role GaDangme people played hence the owners of the NDC party. On the historical account of the NDC, he does not see why any GaDangme will support any other political party apart from the NDC.
Hon. Nii Armah Ashietey also spoke and encouraged the gathering to be steadfast in their work for the party and that in due season they will reap a bountiful harvest when the party wins power and assume governing the country from January 2025.
Five (5) constituency coordinators and ward executives were appointed and sworn into office to lead the GaDangme membership drive in the constituency to ensure all GaDangbes are united with a single purpose of advancing the course of GaDangbe people in the NDC and Ghana at large.
One of the tasks of the United GaDangme Caucus coordinators and executives of every constituency is to register a minimum of 5,000 GaDangme people who are non-card bearing members of the NDC to become card bearing members of the NDC. It is the firm believe of the leadership of the United GaDangme Caucus that the caucus will register one million GaDangme people before the December general elections to vote en bloc for the NDC.
