The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been granted bail of ¢100,000 with two sureties.
Abronye DC was arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court after he was slapped with two counts of publication of false news and offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace.
The NPP stalwart in a radio interview made a startling revelation that former President Mahama had met with Al-Qaeda militants to engage them on how to destabilise the country and topple the governing party.
He was subsequently invited and detained by the police for further questioning over the coup plot allegations.
The invitation came days after the Police arrested a lead convener of the #FixTheCountry Movement, Oliver Barker-Vormawor.
Mr Barker-Vormawor who is facing treason felony charges took to social media to threaten a coup if the controversial Electronic Transfer Levy Bill is passed.
In a press statement on Tuesday signed by the Director-General, Public Affairs, DCOP Kwesi Ofori, Abronye was invited “to assist the investigation, failure of which he will be arrested.”
