Newly installed divisional Chief of Aflao-Teshie in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta region, Torgbi Nii Kpambi Vedzesu V, has called on all indigenous people of the area both home and abroad to rally behind him to enable him deliver on his mandate effectively.
Torgbi Vedzesu made the call at a colourful family gathering and re-union, following his earlier installation and out- dooring as a divisional chief of the Aflao traditional area late last year.
As part of activities climaxing his installation, Torgbi Vedzesu led members of his royal/stool family as well as the Chiefs and Elders of the Aflao traditional area including Torgbiga Amenya Fiti V to a thanksgiving church service held at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic church in Aflao, Sunday.
It was to thank the Almighty for his successful coronation and to pray for God’s guidance and direction for a successful reign.
Torgbi Vedzesu said he was aware of the daunting task ahead of him as a traditional ruler, but was hopeful that with the support of his people and the help of the almighty, he will deliver on the mandate successfully, bringing the needed transformation and development to Aflao-Teshie and the traditional area as a whole.
Torgbi Vedzesu said as a Christian and a God fearing person, he had always relied on God for direction throughout his entire life, stating that the Chieftaincy institution derived its roots from the Bible hence there was the need to accord those called to such positions the needed respect and reverence in the discharge of their assigned roles.
The divisional Chief pledged his willingness to humbly serve his people and called on them to burry any past differences “as we forge ahead in unity as a people with a common destiny for the forward march of Aflao-Teshie and the traditional area”.
Torgbi Vedzesu further promised to work hand in hand with other Chiefs of the area especially the Paramount Chief, Torgbiga Amenya Fiti V “so that together we can bring the needed transformation into the lives of our people and the development of the Aflao traditional area”.
