Africa film legend Kinsley Sam Obed dies

One of Africa’s film legends – Kingsley Sam Obed has passed on.

The filmmaker died on Thursday, September 13, 2020, at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

Kingsley Sam Obed was a preacher of the Gospel of God, a renowned film writer, producer a mentor to many local and international artistes in Ghana, Nigeria, and other parts of Africa.

He was the brain behind the popular Ghanaian Movie – “Punctured Hope” which tackled the age-old ‘trokosi’ menace. The award-winning movie -“Punctured Hope” was directed by Bruno Pischiutta. It was a story about Trokosi and the young girls’ slavery in contemporary West Africa. It was shot in 2009.

Other works of Pastor Kinsley Sam Obed include Darkness of Sorrow and Frozen Emotion both shot in 2006.

A family source who confirmed news of his death to ghananewsonline.com.gh said plans are afoot to ensure that the film legend is given a befitting burial.
