African Games: Ghana’s Black Satellites beat Gambia 3-1

Although The Gambia managed to score a goal through Ebrimah Ceesay in the 83rd minute, it wasn’t enough to change the outcome. Jerry Afriyie scored in stoppage time, sealing the win for the Black Satellites with a final score of 3-1.

The Ghanaian U20 male national team, called the Black Satellites, celebrated their first victory in the 2023 African Games by defeating The Gambia on Tuesday evening.

They played at the Accra Sports Stadium and managed to score in both halves, winning 2-0 against their West African rivals.

This win in their second Group A match puts Ghana at the top of their group with four points from two games. This positions them well to move forward to the tournament’s semifinals.

Ghana scored their first goal just 12 minutes into the game, making the home crowd very happy. It was Musibau Aziz who scored.

The early lead gave the Black Satellites a boost going into halftime. Then, after the break, Abdul Aziz Issah, a talented player from Dreams FC, scored again for Ghana four minutes into the second half. This made their control of the game even stronger.

Even though Aziz missed a penalty in the 75th minute, Ghana kept dominating the game.
