Contrary to news that former Director of Operations at the National Security, Lt. Col Frank Agyeman, has been sent back to the Armed Forces, he is still at post at the Ministry of National Security.
According to very credible information, Col Agyeman who was reportedly removed and made the Commanding Officer 64 Infantry Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces, did not move an inch from the National Security.
He has since the brutalities against Citi FM’s Caleb Kudah in May 2021, remained at post on the blind side of many unsuspecting Ghanaians.
Sources told DAYBREAK that Col Agyeman is at post issuing commands to regional liaison officers across the country.
News that Col Agyeman is still at post comes as a great shock, because Ghanaians were made to believe that an investigation conducted by the National Security which directed that the senior military officer be sent back was enforced.
Recall the outrage that greeted the appointment of the Colonel as the Commanding Officer 64 Infantry Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces but the military refused to comment on the matter.
The appointment took effect from Friday, May 21, a day after he was withdrawn from the National Security Ministry.
The Minister of National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah relieved Mr. Agyeman of his duty due to his role in the alleged assault of Citi FM’s Caleb Kudah.
The press statement signed by Mr. Kan-Dapaah said, “The secondment of Lieutenant Colonel Frank Agyeman (Director of Operations) at the Ministry has been reversed. The officer is to report to the Chief of Defence Staff for further investigation and appropriate action.”
The statement added that the “three (3) police officers involved have been withdrawn and are to report to the Ghana Police Service for investigation and disciplinary action.”
A Military Secretary (MS) publication labeled “Restricted” said “Lt. Col. FK Agyeman (GH/3306)” was moving from the Army Headquarters, where he was before his secondment of the National Security Ministry, was now in charge of the 64 Infantry Regiment.
That communication comes from the office of the Chief of Defence Staff, which is supposed to investigative Lt. Col. Frank Agyeman and take further actions.
Caleb Kudah had alleged that he was assaulted by the National Security operatives led by Lt. Col. Frank Agyeman.
“They pushed me and I sat on the chair. They [National Security operatives] slapped me from the back. I was trying to appeal to them that they had beaten me enough, but they were just slapping me from the back,” Caleb Kudah said after his release.
“I’ll be talking to another one and someone will just come and slap me from the back.”
