In an address during the official campaign launch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 elections, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Adentan Constituency, Akosua Asaa Manu, underscored the numerous developmental strides made under the presidency of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd of party supporters and constituents, Manu emphasized that the Akufo-Addo administration has brought about significant progress across various sectors in Ghana.
She highlighted the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, noting that road networks have seen a substantial improvement. “Our road networks have expanded from 78,000 to 100,000 kilometers,” she stated, attributing this growth to the government’s commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructure. She also pointed out that the NPP government has successfully constructed 12 multi-tier interchanges, further easing traffic congestion in major urban centers.
In addition to road infrastructure, Manu praised the government’s efforts in the railway sector, stating, “We have initiated the construction of more railway lines than any other government in Ghana’s history.” This, she argued, demonstrates the NPP’s dedication to revamping the country’s transportation system and boosting economic activities.
The NPP candidate also lauded the government’s investments in airport infrastructure, asserting that such developments are crucial for positioning Ghana as a key player in regional and international trade.
Acknowledging that “progress is a nice word, but change has many enemies,” Manu urged Ghanaians to look at the data that supports the NPP’s achievements. “We have backed our position with data, and anyone who disagrees should bring their counter-data,” she challenged critics.
Despite these accomplishments, Manu was quick to note that the NPP is not resting on its laurels. “We have done more, but we are not satisfied. The Ghanaians desire that we do more, and we shall do more,” she assured the audience, pledging continued development under the NPP’s leadership.
Looking ahead, Manu expressed confidence in the party’s presidential candidate, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as the right leader to take Ghana forward. “Under a Bawumia presidency, we shall continue to develop,” she declared, describing Bawumia as a leader with the vision and innovation necessary to drive progress and steer the nation toward a brighter future.
Manu concluded her speech with a rallying call to voters across the country “We are voting for Bawumia for a future of hope and prosperity.”
The NPP’s campaign is expected to be closely watched as the party seeks to retain its influence and secure a third consecutive term in office at the national level.
