I am a Citizen.
I rise to meditate on the destruction of my respected Retired and Tired President Billy Akufo-Addo, a Kyebi political chameleon who is drowning in a downpour of his own mediocrity.
What Akufo-Addo promised to do as a President, he is failing to deliver.
What Akufo-Addo promised on his honour not to do as a President, he is failing to keep his honour.
Name them!
I crave your indulgence to meditate. Because few Citizens have the audacity to write on President Nana Akufo-Addo who is behaving typically like a puppy who swings himself around and farts into a blazing fire with the aim to put it out.
What was the essence of Akufo-Addo’s Government White Paper on the Ayawaso West Wuogon Commission of Enquiry Report?!
Akufo-Addo burst onto the Ghanaian political space in the 1970s. Anyone who lived around the UNIGOV and the KUME PREKO era, would remember the apparent avuncular, reassuring and trustworthy persona of Nana “the law” Akufo-Addo.
Feigning a pained sincerity, he would furrow his brow and rail against the negatives of the governments of the day.
Akufo-Addo has always thrived on resentment and outrage. He has always seethed with them and stirred them in his friends, colleagues, family and adherents and gratuitously mined them for his political benefits.
Citizens Paul Afoko, Kwabena Agyepong, Nana Konadu Rawlings, Tsatsu Tsikata, J.J. Rawlings have tasted the chicanery of Nana Akufo-Addo at diffferent periods of his political life as Attorney- General, Foreign Affairs Minister and NPP Flagbearer.
When he started his political life, he zigzagged from left to right in the ideological spectrum.
He did not start off with the centre-right UGCC/United Party tradition even though his progenitors serves as leading figures.
Instead, a young Nana Akufo-Addo was a left-wing idealist admired by his peers for his clarity of thought and Marxist orientation who sought to redirect political thought from bourgeois tendencies, exhibited by the Dankwa/Busia/Dombo tradition, to a new height of scientific materialism.
African Capitalism and its corollary hand me down property-owning democracy rhetoric never were part of the DNA of Nana Akufo-Addo.
However, he believed that whatever you are is not enough: you must find a way to accept something small from the other to make you whole and save you from the mortal sin of righteousness and extremism.

So, he changed colours.
And like a political chameleon, he changed colours till he charmed Ghanaians into giving him power in the December, 2016 elections.
Then, the downpour of mediocrity began from a plagiarized speech at his January 7, 2017 inauguration and has continued till today.
For almost three years in power, President Akufo-Addo has shown a manifest failure to deliver on his highfalutin promises.
The policies he has attempted to implement, like the free SHS policy, have been tacky and delivered with shocking levels of mediocrity.
He is considered by many Citizens as a 75 year old President who is not only bereft of ideas and beliefs but has played the political game with lies told with bravado which numbed the country through the start of a decline expected to be long and chaotic.
As the Citizens come to terms with Nana Akufo-Addo as an over-hyped empty-headed hypnotherapist who is capriciously sleep-walking Ghana into a fifth-tier status, the Citizens need to explain to the generation to come how he got away with it before and after becoming President of this noble country.
How did the Citizens sit down for the Kyebi political chameleon to charm this country to its current level of decline?
Will the country be returned to a safe pair of hands in the upcoming 2020 elections?
Thankfully, a cross-section of Ghanaian society is raising a loud voice of reason and asking questions of President Akufo-Addo.
Characteristically, chameleon Akufo Addo is presuming to answer questions which have not even been asked!
Nana Akufo-Addo is standing short with a self-assumed messianic posture and assuming he is facing the same old cry heard by Isā-ibn-Maryam from his lazy-minded, soft- brained, bread-hungry hangers-on in Madgalia or Galilee or Gadarene or wherever it occured:
“Give us a miracle. Give us a miracle and we will believe in you and follow you. Cut out plenty talk and get to the point. Life is short. We want results.”
Of course, time is short. “Do something before you die,” is the clamour of the Citizens to the fast drowning President Akufo-Addo.
Then, suddenly, the Kyebi political chameleon struck with a masterful diversionary con artistry:
Nana Akufo-Addo’s scripted robotic Information Minister announced that the government had arrested some Citizens who had conspired to kidnapp President Akufo-Addo, Vice President Bawumia and the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. General Akwa.
How will Citizens manage to kidnap a President and his Vice who are protected by Cabinet Ministers for Defence, Interior, National Security, a Minister of State for National Security, a National Security Coordinator, a Chief of Defence Staff, an Inspector General of Police and a Commander of Delta and Invisible Forces?
Yet, a government rented mouth-piece, the brain-dead, bread-hungry and self-confessed wee smoker was on a recent JOY FM’s News File program selling the nation a propaganda yarn that he had seen a video in which some of the detained alleged coupists planned to take over the government by exploding some chemicals at a function.
Incredible!
The Kyebi chameleon is simply attempting a distraction to the questions being asked in the public space by deliberately creating CHAOS OUT OF ORDER in the country.
Then Akufo-Addo would lash out with increasing ferocity: Arrests, detentions and human rights abuses would follow; and purges in the security services would take place and the imposition of restrictive laws would crystallize.
But, to many Citizens President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is finished. He is fast drowning in a downpour of his own mediocrity.
Henceforth, every erratic escalation, every needless quarrel, every compulsive policy lurch of Nana Akufo-Addo will provide additional evidence of the last kicks of a destroyed Kyebi
political chameleon.
The Kyebi political chameleon has certainly seen the quasi- Christian writing, IFE ONYE METALU, clearly written on a Lagos-bound bus.
It means, WHAT A MAN COMMITS FOLLOWS HIM.
Chinua Achebe gives a deeper meaning: “Whatever we see following a man, (NANA ADDO DANKWA AKUFO-ADDO), whatever fate comes to take revenge on him, can only be what the man in some way or another has committed.”
I Shall Retunr (sic).
