Akufo-Addo is seeking a 3rd term through Bawumia – Edudzi Tamekloe

Tamakloe believes that President Akufo-Addo is seeking to stay in power for a longer period than outlined in the 1992 Constitution.

A member of the legal team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Lawyer Edudzi Kudzo Tamakloe, has revealed that President Akufo-Addo is seeking for a third term just like President Alpha Conde of Guinea, who was overthrown few days ago in a bloodlless coup d’etat.

Mr. Tamakloe believes that President Akufo-Addo is seeking to stay in power for a longer period than outlined in the 1992 Constitution.

He noted that unlike the recently overthrown President Alpha Conde of Guinea who changed his country’s constitution to get a third term, President Akufo-Addo is trying to smartly get his third term as President of Ghana through Dr. Bawumia.

“Akufo-Addo is seeking a third term through Dr. Bawumia. Alpha Conde decided to change the constitution to get to the third term destination. Ghanaians must not permit third term for Akufo-Addo,” he stated.

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Minister of Trade and Industry who lost to Akufo-Addo for the flagbearership slot in 2007 and 2014, and some individuals in the party including Joe Ghartey a former Minister for Railways, are expected to contest the presidential primaries ahead of the 2024 general election.

It is also believed that President Akufo-Addo is in full support of Dr. Bawumia’s Presidential bid.
