President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, acting on the advice of the Prisons Service Council, has approved the promotion of senior officers in the Prisons Directorate.
A statement issued in Accra on Wednesday 10th February, 2021 and signed by Chief Superintendent of Prisons, Courage Atsem, said Director of Prisons (DOP), Mr. Isaac Kofi Egyir, has been promoted to Deputy Director-General of Prisons (DDGP) In-Charge of Operations .
Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP), Mr Francis Omane-Addo is now the Director of Prisons In-Charge of Welfare, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie is now the Director of Prisons In-Charge of Services and Technical, Mr Samuel Adjei-Attah is now the Director of Prisons In-Charge of Health, Mr. Samuel Akampure Akolbire is now the Director of Prisons In-Charge of Operations, Mr. Hanson Adu- Awuku is now the Director of Prisons In-Charge of Agriculture and Mr Ernest Asante-Adofo, Director of Prisons In- charge of Human Resource Development.
Five others, who have been promoted from Assistant Director of Prisons (ADP) to Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP), with effect from this year, include: Edmond Boye Odonkor, Ali Kwaku Ababio, Raphael K. Tuekpe, Martin Kweku Darku and Simon Yao Adzah.

In a related development, the Prisons Service Council earlier approved the promotion of; Twenty (20) Chief Superintendents of Prisons (CSP) to Assistant Director of Prisons (ADP),
Thirty-eight (38) Superintendents of Prisons (SP) to Chief Superintendents of Prisons (CSP), Eighty-five (85) Deputy Superintendents of Prisons (DSP) to Superintendents of Prisons (SP) and a total of One Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty – Two (1,842) Junior officers were also promoted to various higher ranks within the junior officers Corp.
The Director-General of Prisons Administration on behalf of President Akufo-Addo, Minister for the Interior, and members of the Prisons Service Council have congratulated the newly promoted officers on their promotions and wishes to remind them that promotions come with higher responsibilities hence all must therefore ensure that these promotions will be brought to bear on their performances.
