Akufo-Addo snubs the People of Anlo because of Mahama’s surging Popularity

AKUFO-ADDO SNUBS THE PEOPLE OF ANLO BECAUSE OF MAHAMA’S SURGING POPULARITY

Former President John Mahama on Saturday joined the people of Anlo to celebrate the Hogbetsotso festival. The weather in the region did not deter thousands of people from all parts of the region and beyond from assembling in the Anlo state. The crowd was everywhere, on the road, on balconies, on building roofs and on vehicles to cheer the former President. It took the former president hours to reach the durbar ground because of the crowd.

Pundits have declared that the massive crowd that turned out to welcome the former President on his arrival was a message to the incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo that his support across the regions remains unshaken and his popularity undiminished. The truth is that President Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are scared of former President Mahama’s popularity.

President Akufo-Addo was supposed to grace the grand durbar of the Hogbetsotso Festival. The festival which is celebrated to commemorate the historic exodus of the Anlos from Notsie in the present day Republic of Togo, is among revered festivals in West Africa. The President’s invitation was highly publicized and all were expecting the President to grace the occasion but he disappointed the people. Our investigations reveal that the President’s undercover operatives and our intelligence agencies alerted the President that former President Mahama’s presence at the festival will dwarf him and expose his ”highly diminished popularity” in the country.

No doubt, President Akufo-Addo’s popularity is dropping sharply following the various challenges the nation is facing as a result of his administration’s bogus policies. Ghanaians had high hopes in Akufo-Addo and the NPP because of the promises and assurances they gave on their campaign platforms. Ghanaians believed in the NPP’s Change mantra and were very optimistic they were going to fulfil all their promises. After three years in office, the people who were out in the streets chanting ”Nana, Nana” have made sharp U-Turn and are now losing hope in the ability of the President to fulfill his promises.

The President and his party have continued to blame the former president John Mahama for every misfortune. But the more they blame him, the more popular he becomes because of his achievements including the roads, hospitals, schools, airports, renovated ports, cold stores etc etc.

The President’s popularity has diminished because of the general economic hardship in the country. Continuous decline in the nation’s economy is a big problem. The exchange rate of the Cedi against the dollar has been unstable. This has affected prices of consumer goods, plunging the people into more hardship. Corruption and nepotism are on the ascendancy, people are losing their jobs, companies and other businesses collapsing.
