Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Founder and General Overseer of United Denominations of Action Chapels Worldwide, and Reverend Eastwood Anaba, President of Eastwood Anaba Ministries, have resigned from the Board of Trustees overseeing the construction of Ghana’s National Cathedral.
The two took this step due to the absence of an independent audit of public funds allocated to the project, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability in the management of national endeavors.
In a letter dated 12th October 2023 and addressed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Archbishop Duncan-Williams and Reverend Anaba expressed their regret at the lack of progress regarding the audit, which was mandated in their submitted resolution back in January 2023.
The resolution stressed the need for transparency and accountability to the Ghanaian people, emphasizing the appointment of an independent accounting firm to audit all public funds contributed to the National Cathedral.
“We regret that, as a matter of conscience and faith, we hereby submit to you our resignation from the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral,” the letter stated, highlighting their commitment to ensuring the project’s advancement on a foundation of efficiency and quality while maintaining public trust and support.
The two religious leaders, however, remained optimistic about the vision of the National Cathedral, expressing their confidence in President Akufo-Addo’s role as the visionary and architect of the project.
“A dream deferred is not a dream denied,” they affirmed, echoing their hope that the National Cathedral, designed to serve as a sacred space and infrastructure for various national activities, would be realized in their lifetime.
