All Teachers Posted To Rural Areas Will Be Motivated – Director General Assures

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has revealed that it is willing to make the lives of teachers better especially those who are posted to remote areas. The Director-General of GES, Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwah in an interview on UTV ‘Mpu ne Mpu’ on the 8th of January,2021 indicated that it is no mistake that the service posted some newly trained teachers to places or locations they did not choose. It is part of the service terms and conditions and it was made known to individuals during the application process.

Individuals were asked to whether they will be willing to serve in any location incase you all your choices are unable to accommodate you. Since applicants were willing to get a job, they agreed to that option and that’s what the GES worked with. All posted newly trained teachers are therefore urged to make do with the situation. This is a fair deal”, the Director-General reiterated.

He also indicated that individuals who accept postings to rural areas will be motivated to boost their morale. The motivation process is a result of the introduction of the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Programme (GALOP) which is mainly to cater for deprived and non-performing schools across Ghana.

“The motivation can be in a form of providing teaching learning materials and other logistics”, he stated.

Qualified but not posted newly trained teachers will be prompted to submit their details

In his submission on the same show, the Director-General indicated that in due time, all qualified but not posted newly trained teachers to submit their details via an official link that will be made available by the Service.

He, however, admitted that there are technical hitches as far as the usage of networks and computers are concerned and therefore blamed the cause of some qualified college graduates not posted on problems encountered as a result of the use of technology.
