Ghana Women’s Premier League champions, Ampem Darkoa Ladies commenced their 2022 WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League qualifiers with a 3-0 win over Burkinabe side Union Sportive des Forces Armees in the Group B opener on Sunday afternoon in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast.
Ampem Darkoa went all out as they dominated most parts of the first half which saw them bag in two goals.
Elizabeth Owusuaa put them in the lead ten minutes into the game before the lead was doubled thirty minutes later after a low cross delivered by Constance Serwaa deflected off one of USFA defenders into her own net.
Back from recess, the Techiman based provided a strong display which eventually paid off when Mavis Owusu sealed their victory with her strike on the 88th minute of the game to keep their hopes of securing a ticket to the second edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Ampem Darkoa will battle out with Bayelsa Queens of Nigeria in their second Group B game on Wednesday and a win could see them become the second Ghanaian women’s team to play play in the CAF Champions League after Hasaacas Ladies.
