MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has said he faces daily threats from elements within the government due to his anti-corruption exposés.
Speaking on the Class Morning Show on Class91.3FM on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, Mr Ablakwa, known for his vocal criticism of the government on issues of corruption and governance, confirmed the constant threats to his life.
“The threats come almost on a daily basis, through calls, text messages, and sometimes you notice people following you, forcing you to change your route. There is massive surveillance on me, and I know that for a fact,” stated the Chairman of the Committee on Assurances.
He added, “Sometimes people from the government call me to be careful, saying, ‘watch your security, we just came out of a meeting and people are really angry and want to come after you.’”
Mr Ablakwa revealed he recently discovered a tracking device under his vehicle.
He alleged that the government is highly anxious and aims to identify his sources for the documents he intercepts.
The lawmaker asserted, “The government wants to harm me, and I have no doubt about it because we are dealing with a very vicious regime. These people are very wicked, so I live under no illusion that they are seeking to come after me.”
Below are some 10 Parliamentary Oversight Exposés of Mr Ablakwa which have cumulatively saved Ghana a US$1.3billion (GHS20.2billion).
