Anyidoho praises Ghana’s Hockey Team for Qualifying for 2022 Commonwealth Games

"At 65, let us commit ourselves to ensuring that we “CHERISH FEARLESS HONESTY”, in order for “GOD TO BLESS OUR HOMELAND GHANA AND MAKE OUR NATION GREAT AND STRONG”.

As Ghana marks 65 years of independence on 6 March, 2022, the Atta-Mills Institute has sent congratulatory message to Ghana’s male female Hockey Team for qualifying for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

In a press release on March 6, 2022 on the occasion of 65th Independence Anniversary, the founder and President of the Institute, Samuel Koku Anyidoho, praised the Hockey Teams for Qualifying for 2022 Commonwealth Games for the 23rd edition of the Commonwealth Games to be held in Birmingham, United Kingdom, from July 28 – August 8, 2022.

The statement said, “Sixty-Five (65) years in the life of our dear nation, is worthy of celebration, and the Atta-Mills Institute, joins hands with every Ghanaian to give thanks to God Almighty for His abundant grace and mercies upon the Motherland over the six and half decades of our existence as an Independent Nation”.

As a Civic Education and Public Policy Advocacy Think-Tank believed to be anchored to Core Pivot, of, “Mindset Transformation For Nation-Building”, “we continue to cling the bell, of the conscious need to re-tool the psyche of the nation in the direction of holding on unflinchingly to the Words of our, National Anthem and National Pledge”.

He went on to submit that, the Words of the Anthem and Pledge, hold the keys to unlocking the doors of the vast reserves of the nation’s mental drive in attaining higher heights of growth and development, and “we must not downplay the value of these two vital National Symbols’.

“At 65, let us commit ourselves to ensuring that we “CHERISH FEARLESS HONESTY”, in order for “GOD TO BLESS OUR HOMELAND GHANA AND MAKE OUR NATION GREAT AND STRONG”.

Let us also never forget to say “I PROMISE ON MY HONOUR TO BE FAITHFUL AND LOYAL TO GHANA MY MOTHERLAND”, he added.

Mr. Anyidoho stressed the point that, “the astute and ardent hockey player that he was, as Vice President, and also as President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Evans Atta-Mills, changed the face of Ghana hockey by supporting the construction of the first ever water-based Astro-turf hockey pitch in Ghana in 1999, and an ultra-modern world-class National Hockey Stadium was built in 2009”.

“The improved facilities and greater attention to the game of hockey has brought the nation many successes – and we are grateful to the Ghana Hockey Association for keeping the flame alight. Certainly, not all is gloom for Ghana: there are many feats worth celebrating. As we cherish our, Freedom, let us also uphold, Justice, because Freedom and Justice are the foundation of the Throne of Ghana.  Most assuredly, there is more that unites us, than divides us”.
