National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Madina, Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu has claimed that the arrest of the National Communications Officer of the party by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) forms part of attempts by the government to gag him.
The NDC National Communications Officer was whisked away by some plain-clothed security officers in a white pick-up vehicle with registration number VR 4870 – 12.
The source continued that Sammy Gyamfi was whisked away in a pick up after appearing on the Morning Show of the station.
The reason for his arrest is yet to be established but it is believed it is in connection with his cyber crime case been investigated by the police.
Commenting on his arrest in an interview with GhanaNewsPage.Com at the Police Headquarters, Lawyer Sosu said he believes his arrest is only a means of gagging him.
“I feel his arrest is not appropriate, I feel it is a deliberate attempt to gag the young man and it’s not appropriate…,” he said.
According to him, the arrest of the young man was uncalled for as ‘he is not an ordinary man but the National Communications Officer of the main opposition party’.
“I think we must be more careful how we go about our things in an election year because Sammy is not an ordinary man,” he said further.
Francis Sosu is part of the NDC Lawyers that have stormed the Police Headquarters to seek bail for their arrested National Officer.
