Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has unveiled his all-time best XI squad for Ghana’s senior national team, notably excluding his successor Andre Ayew and former teammate Laryea Kingston.

Gyan, renowned for his prolific goal-scoring record and leadership on the pitch, selected a formidable lineup dominated by players he played alongside and those he admired while growing up.

In goal, Gyan opted for his former teammate Richard Kingston, with a solid defensive line consisting of John Mensah and Samuel Osei Kuffuor in the center, flanked by John Paintsil and Hans Adu-Sarpei.

The midfield featured a combination of powerhouse players including Michael Essien and Stephen Appiah, supported by Sulley Muntari on the left and Yaw Preko on the right. Gyan reserved the number 10 position for Ghana football legend Abedi Pele, with himself leading the front line.

Notably absent from Gyan’s selection were Andre Ayew, who currently holds the record for the most capped player in the Black Stars’ history, surpassing Gyan’s own 109 appearances. Additionally, Laryea Kingston, known for his impactful performances on the flanks during his playing days, was also left out of the lineup.
