The world governing body of football, the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has saluted Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan on his official retirement on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.
FIFA was full of praise for the Ghanaian forward who was difficult to handle by defenders in his heydays for the Black Stars team.
The 37-year-old who has inactive for two seasons has decided to hang his boot following an illustrious career for the four-time Africa Cup of Nations winners.
He was recently dreaming of making a comeback to the final but has swiftly changed his mind on coming back to the field.
Gyan scored six goals at three World Cup tournaments between 2006 and 2014 with his first and last coming against Czech Republic in 2006 in Germany and Portugal in 2014 in Brazil.
He’s Ghana’s all time top scorer with 51 goals in 109 appearances including eight goals at seven AFCON tournaments.
