The Asante Kotoko Sporting Club will not have access to their traditional home grounds, the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, in their next game.
This is because the venue has been closed to make way for rehabilitation and keep it in good shape for the Black Stars’ game against Central Africa Republic next two weeks
In a statement on May 27, 2023, the Ghana Football Association said another venue will have to host the game.
“The Baba Yara Sports stadium pitch will not be available for domestic competitions until after Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Central African Republic.
The decision is to give managers of the pitch ample time to further improve its quality ahead of the qualifier, scheduled for Monday, June 10, 2024.”
As such, the FA said the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex will be the venue for the clash between the Porcupines and relegation-bound Accra Great Olympics at Abrankese.
The clash slated for Sunday, June 2, 2024 will be one of the last three remaining premier league games this season.
“The Ghana Premier League Matchday 32 fixture between Asante Kotoko and Accra Great Olympics will now take place at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Sunday, June 2, 2024.”
This pitch will however be ready for their last game on June 15 against Bofoakwa Tano.
