Asantehene Inaugurates Sinapi Aba Golf Tournament Amidst Anniversary Celebrations

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, formally launched the inaugural Sinapi Aba Golf Tournament on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Royal Golf Park in Kumasi.

This event marks a significant highlight of the 30th-anniversary celebrations of Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans.

Accompanied by Manso Nkwantamanhene, Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah, and other distinguished chiefs, the Asantehene joined the Chief Executive Officer and senior officials of Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans to kick off the tournament.

Reflecting on the occasion, Sinapi Aba CEO John Sinapi highlighted the company’s profound impact over the past three decades, stressing the importance of fostering unity among corporate entities through sports. “Sinapi Aba has initiated impactful programs and touched many lives over the past 30 years. As part of our celebrations, we decided to hold this competition to raise awareness and foster camaraderie among corporate bodies,” he remarked.

The CEO noted that golf was chosen as the ideal sport to unite high-profile personalities and the corporate world. “We are delighted and grateful that Otumfuo himself graced us with his presence at the tournament’s opening. Participants from various corporate bodies nationwide have joined us for this event.”

Joyce Owusu-Dabo, Chief Programmes Officer at Sinapi Aba, underscored the health benefits of golf, particularly for professionals who spend extended periods indoors. “As bankers, we spend much time in offices but must maintain a healthy lifestyle through exercise. With its full-body engagement, golf promotes circulation and well-being,” she explained.

Richard Osei-Bonsu clinched the Men’s Group B title with 38 points in tournament results. In comparison, Daniel Ntim led Men’s Group A with 32 points. Joyce Owusu-Dabo topped the Ladies’ category with 34 points, Kwabena Poku excelled in the Professionals category with 72 points, and Samuel Okyere triumphed in the Seniors category with 34 points. A total of 54 golfers participated in the competitive event.
