ATC Ghana says it has reconnected Telecel Ghana equipment on its tower sites following the intervention of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization (MoCD) and the National Communications Authority (NCA).
“Following intervention by the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization and the National Communications Authority (NCA), ATC Ghana has, in good faith, temporarily resumed the supply of power to all Telecel Ghana equipment on its tower sites,” it said in a statement.
ATC Ghana had previously announced that it had discontinued power supply to Telecel on sites with expired agreements when Telecel failed to meet its payment obligations.
But Telecel quickly rebutted, describing ATC Ghana’s allegations as “utterly false”.
The matter was then referred to the NCA for mediation, following which ATC was instructed to reconnect Telecel and retract their earlier statement.
ATC Ghana said it is hopeful that the NCA’s mediation, at the Honourable Minister’s directive, will result in a mutually acceptable solution to bring swift closure to an issue that has persisted for a long time.
“ATC Ghana remains committed to working with all stakeholders for the continuous growth of the telecommunications industry. Furthermore, the Company remains committed to its vision of building a more connected world through its presence in Ghana, and will continue to do so if all stakeholders adhere to their obligations,” the statement added.
