Odai Ntown Family, owners of Atomic Energy Commission lands and its environs have warned those encroaching on their lands to desist from any developments on the said lands.
According to the family, they have had several judgements in their favor hence the call on residents of Kwabenya and its surroundings to desist from dealing with any other family except Odai Ntown family.
Addressing a news conference at Kwabenya in the Ga East Municipality of the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday, the secretary to the family who is also head of Ashongman Jemawon family, one of the gates of Odai Ntown family, Mr. Joshua Odai Ama revealed that Onamrokor Adam family is not in possession of the Atomic Energy Commission Lands.
Due to this, the family secretary revealed that they have filed for injunction restraining Onamrokor Adam family, Unique Development Company Ltd and others; not to enter the Atomic Energy Commission lands in suit No. LD /0363/2017.
He said the family was surprised at the u-turn of Onamrokor family after injunction was granted by the court. He claimed they were in negotiation with the Ghana government to release Atomic Energy Commission lands to them.
To prove their legitimacy of the lands, the secretary explained that a committee was set up by the government to investigate the owners of the lands, Nii Odai Ntow family was declared the allodial owners of the lands which were acquired compulsorily by government for Atomic Energy Commission.
In view of this, Nii Odai Ntow family was paid some compensation in respect of the acquired lands in June 1975.
Mr. Ama refuted the claim that 401 acres of lands had been released to Onamrokor family in 2008 adding that ” Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources headed by Hon. Esther Dapaah announced that 20% of the Compulsory Acquired Atomic Energy Commission lands would be released to the original owner in lieu of compensation.
