The African University College of Communications and Business (AUCB) has held a dynamic career fair aimed at bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world industry demands. The event brought students face-to-face with leading professionals from various sectors, offering valuable insights into the working world and helping them navigate potential career paths.
Company booths were set up across campus, allowing students to engage directly with representatives from media, finance, technology, corporate HR, and more. The fair provided a unique opportunity for students to ask questions, explore job expectations, and begin shaping their future aspirations.
The event featured two powerful guest speakers who shared their personal journeys to success.
Gifty Akorfah Kumah, a seasoned Human Resources professional, captivated students with her story of rising through the ranks from humble beginnings. She emphasized the importance of hard work, self-belief, and resilience.
“No matter where you start, it’s your passion, consistency, and mindset that determines how far you’ll go,” she shared.
Equally inspiring was renowned journalist Portia Gabor of TV3, who shared her remarkable 11-year journey in journalism before earning the prestigious title of Journalist of the Year. She encouraged student journalists to carve a unique identity in the field.
“Find your niche,” she advised. “Let people know you for something specific. Specialize, and you’ll be able to write meaningful stories that matter.”
AUCB faculty highlighted that the fair was part of a broader initiative to prepare students for life after school. “We want our students to begin thinking about their futures now—not just after graduation,” said one of the organizers.
Students left the event motivated, informed, and with a clearer sense of direction. The fair not only connected them to potential employers but also offered life lessons from those who have walked the path before them.
