Away Away: Veep Bawumia becomes latest victim of booing after Akufo-Addo; rushes through address at Hogbetsotso Za

Dr Bawumia’s hooting incident follows that of President Akufo-Addo, who has, on some occasions, been at the receiving end of jeers. The first incident happened at the Global Citizens Festival, with the second and third booings taking place during a tour of the Ashanti Region and while he was driving through a town in the Eastern Region.

Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, on Saturday, November 5, 2022, became the latest victim of booing by a section of the Ghanaian populace.

On Saturday, a festival of the people of Anlo in the Volta Region dubbed Hogbetsotso Za also became an opportunity for attendees to vent their frustration at the general hardships in the country.

Dr Bawumia, a special guest of honour at the festival, had his speech rudely interrupted by boos and jeers from the crowd.

In the speech, he touted the importance of the Anlo state to the development of the country and also enumerated some achievements of the Akufo-Addo-led government despite the current economic crisis.

The loud chants of disapproval threatening to drown the rest of his delivery led to the Veep shouting at the top of his voice.

He then rushed through his speech as the boos and jeers got louder.
