“so if you look at the figures we have for hypertension, in 2020, the total number of people with hypertension were 18,293, in 2021 it was 21,790, 2022 was 23,392 and 2023 which is last year, we had 26,318, the question is are we happy when it comes to hypertension where we are recording a lot of cases.” He said

Dr. Adomako disclosed that “a lot of people with this disease don’t know, so the drive, when it comes to hypertension is to make sure that people who really have an elevated blood pressure they know, so that they can control it.

” It’s important because if you look at hypertension, when you are having this condition you will never know, most of the people with elevated blood pressure above normal, typically they don’t come with any signs and symptoms.

” They are alright, they are going about their normal businesses and you know this clichés, if it’s not broken don’t fix it, it doesn’t happen with hypertension because the moment you get elevated blood pressure, we have to know so that we take measures.”

He further explained that, hypertension, if uncontrolled, can lead to life-threatening complications such as heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure, and blindness.

” Hypertension, is the major risk factor for a lot of cardiovascular diseases and the problem with it is that mostly you don’t know that my blood pressure is elevated, you are going about your normal things, it doesn’t show with any obvious signs, if you are not careful, what happenes is that you will come with complications of hypertension.” Dr. Adomako told our reporter.

The Bono East Regional regional Health Director, stress on the need for residents to prioritize regular blood pressure checks and adopt healthier lifestyles to mitigate the risk.

“Hypertension, can be controlled but it is important to know it before it can be controlled because if you don’t know and it’s not controlled, the complications are severe so let’s know the status of our blood pressure so that at least we can control it.

“There are measures that you have to take that is reduce excessive, take vegetables, engage in physical activity and avoid excessive alcohol.
