Barker-Vormawor dares AG to begin Treason Felony trial

“I am in good health. I am prepared to stand trial. I do hope they take me to trial.”

The lead convener of the #FixTheCountry movement, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has dared the Attorney General to begin his Treason Felony Trial.

Appearing before the Tema High Court on Monday, March 14, 2022, for a continuation of his bail application case, lawyers for Mr Barker-Vormawor described as preposterous, claims that the youth activist will evade trial.

His lead Counsel, Akoto Ampaw informed the court that those allegations are not supported by any evidence and added that the 1992 constitution guarantees his client liberty and a right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The court he argued has the discretion to grant bail in all matters and described as untrue further claims by state prosecutors that his client has no fixed place of abode.

“He has led them to three locations. They have conducted searches there,” Mr Ampaw informed the court.

But in a sharp rebuttal, a Senior State Attorney, Hilda Craig described Mr Barker-Vormawor as a lodger with no fixed place of abode anytime he flies to Ghana.

After listening to arguments from the prosecutors and defence attorneys, the trial judge, Daniel Mensah turned to the social media activist asked how he was doing eliciting the following response from Mr Barker-Vormawor; “I am in good health. I am prepared to stand trial. I do hope they take me to trial.”

The court presided over by Justice Daniel Mensah subsequently adjourned the case to Wednesday, March 16, 2022, to deliver his ruling.
