BECE Commences in Ho with Higher Participation of Girls Than Boys

Regionally, 29,316 candidates are taking the BECE, comprising 14,534 boys, 14,783 girls, and 35 special needs students.

The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has kicked off smoothly in the Ho Municipality, with a notable enrollment of female candidates surpassing their male counterparts.

A total of 2,946 candidates are participating in the examination across 101 municipal public and private schools. This includes 1,555 girls and 1,391 boys, spread across ten examination centres.

Regionally, 29,316 candidates are taking the BECE, comprising 14,534 boys, 14,783 girls, and 35 special needs students.

Mr. Francis Agbemadi, the Volta Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, highlighted this year’s significant shift where girls outnumber boys in the examination cohort. He emphasized the importance of strict adherence to examination regulations during monitoring visits to various centres.

“Adhering to the rules and staying focused will contribute to your success in this examination,” Mr Agbemadi advised candidates, urging them to approach the BECE with diligence and commitment to achieve favourable outcomes.

As the examination progresses, educators and stakeholders remain committed to ensuring a fair and conducive environment for all candidates, fostering equal opportunities for academic success across gender lines in Ghana’s education system.
