The body of a six-year-old girl has been recovered after she was kidnapped and murdered by unidentified gang at Adiembra, near Dompim in Ghana’s Western Region.
The victim identified as Cecilia Cobbinah was found with her tongue missing, police at the Nsuaem District Command reported.
According to the father of the victim, Sewele Lanlang, he had gone to the farm leaving his three children at home Friday morning.
At about 10:30 am, one of his three children, 10-year-old Sarah Cobbinah run to them to the farm that two men had come to the house and kidnapped her younger sister.
After hours of search with town folks, the body of the deceased was found with a deep cut on her throat.
Police officers were called to the scene and found the girl lying lifeless with her throat being severed with a sharp object.
Police have since conveyed her body to the Municipal Hospital Mortuary at Tarkwa for preservation pending autopsy.
An investigation has been launched as police pursue two suspects.
Sympathizers, including playmates had thronged the victim’s home to commiserate with the family.
The incident has struck fear among villagers who claimed that the young girl was killed for ritual purposes.
