In a momentous occasion that marked the culmination of Easter celebrations, the Boso-Gua community witnessed the enstoolment of a new Queen-mother (Omanhemaa) after its suspension for over two decades. The vibrant energy of the festivities reverberated through the Boso township as Okotwasuo Nyarko Yeboah III – the Omanhene, and the divisional chiefs, Oboaso Som Asare Kwadjo IIIV – Tosenhene and Nifahene of Boso-Gua Traditional Area, Nenye Obirintire Gyau Ahima IV – Nanyorhene and Benkumhene of Boso-Gua Traditional area, Nenye Agyemang Oboahyia Kumnipa II Krontihene of Boso and also, Nene Ama Korantemaa I, Anummanhemaa alongside esteemed guests and community members, gathered at the Omanhene’s palace on April 1, 2024.
The history-rich royal lineage of Boso-Gua, encompassing three prominent gates—Boafowa, Obidiaso, and Prah – saw a significant transition as customary and traditional rites were meticulously observed.
After careful consideration and reverence for tradition, the mantle of leadership was bestowed upon Miss Adjoa Obiribea, a distinguished member of the Obidiaso royal lineage.
At the age of 41, she stepped into her role with grace and dignity, embracing her new title as Nene Abena Sefaa I, Omanhemaa of Boso-Gua traditional area. The solemnity of the occasion intertwined with a sense of anticipation as Benjamin Nfodwo, Abusuapanin of the Odwomuna / Asona royal family and other elders, representing other clans in the Boso-Gua community supervised the swearing of the oath of allegiance by Nene Abena Sefaa I to the people of Boso-Gua and acknowledging her ascending to the revered position of Omanhemaa (Queen-mother) of the Traditional Area.
The enstoolment ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the enduring legacy of the Boso-Gua community who have not had a queen mother for over 20 years after the last queen, Ohemaa Prah passed away in 2002. As the torch passes to Nene Abena Sefaa I, the community looks forward to her leadership, rooted in the rich traditions and values that have sustained Boso-Gua for generations.
The vibrancy of the Easter celebrations was heightened by the sense of unity and continuity that permeated the air. Residents and well-wishers alike joined in the festivities, offering their heartfelt congratulations to the newly enstooled Queen-mother and pledging their unwavering support as she embarks on her noble journey of service to the community.
Nene Abena Sefaa I expressed her profound gratitude for the trust bestowed upon her by the kingmakers and the community at large. She pledged to uphold the cherished customs and traditions of Boso-Gua, while also embracing the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead with unwavering resolve and dedication.
As the echoes of ceremonial drums faded into the twilight, a new chapter began for Boso-Gua—one filled with hope, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to preserving the rich tapestry of its cultural heritage. With Nene Abena Sefaa I at the helm, the community stands poised to embark on a journey of collective growth and prosperity, honoring the past while embracing the promise of the future.
As the sun set on this historic day, the Boso-Gua community stood united in celebration, reaffirming their bonds of kinship and solidarity as they welcomed their new Queen-mother with open hearts and outstretched arms.
