BOST bans workers from political activities

The circular defines political activity as “active support or opposition to a political party, a candidate for partisan political office, or a partisan political group.”

The Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) has prohibited its staff from engaging in any form of political activity, either personally or in the company’s name.

The directive, outlined in a staff announcement, aligns with section three of the BOST code of conduct and ethics.

The circular defines political activity as “active support or opposition to a political party, a candidate for partisan political office, or a partisan political group.”

BOST employees are instructed to avoid active political involvement, refrain from making political donations in the company’s name, and not use their position to influence others to contribute to political causes.

The statement also prohibits staff from using company resources, including work time, phones, or meeting rooms, for political purposes.

Any political engagement must occur outside of working hours and off company premises.

While BOST says it recognises that employees may have political interests, the company stressed that such interests must not interfere with workplace operations.

The directive emphasised that political activities should not result in discrimination, bullying, or denial of opportunities based on political views.
