British Expatriate Seeks Justice after Attack at Restaurant

According to Daniel, he went to the restaurant for lunch but was assaulted by the owner, security personnel, and other staff members.

A British expatriate in Ghana, Jack Daniel, is seeking justice after being attacked by gunmen in a restaurant at Nana-krom near Ashaley-Botwe, a suburb of Accra.

According to Daniel, he went to the restaurant for lunch but was assaulted by the owner, security personnel, and other staff members.

He reported the incident to the Lakeside Police, but weeks later, no significant action has been taken.

Daniel has since called on the police and national security agencies to enhance their operations in urban areas to better protect lives and property, including those of expatriates.

“Yes, I was assaulted two weeks ago. At that time, I was with my friends entering the restaurant and bar. They blocked me and said I couldn’t enter. I asked them why, since I was only going to eat, drink, pay, and leave. They insisted I couldn’t. Suddenly, about 13 people, including security, workers, and waiters, surrounded me. One gunman grabbed me, and then one officer slapped me on my right side, which has now caused hearing problems. So please, security should be tighter,” Daniel shared his ordeal with ExpressnewsGhana in Accra.

Mr. Jones Anasah, an aide to Mr. Daniel, confirmed the incident, emphasizing that his boss was attacked without provocation.

“I’m a Ghanaian citizen. I’m calling on national security to as it is an election year, and the safety of expats is crucial. I don’t want Ghana’s good image to be tarnished, so I’m appealing to security agencies to step in and help.”

When asked if the incident was reported to the police, Anasah stated, “Yes, it’s currently with the Lakeside Police Station, and we were informed the case would be processed in court. We are still waiting.”

Mr Anansah therefore called on the state to increase security in the country, especially that of the expatriates or foreigners, in order not to endanger their lives as they continue to stay in the country.
