Chief and People of Tsawoenu need help

"Our water is also not too good for drinking but we have no choice, either we buy sachet water which is also having its share of issues with us because of the current economy hardship or we boil water the traditional way.

The Chief, Elders and people of Tsawoenu, a small farming community in the Ho-West Municipality of the Volta Region has called on the government to come to their aid with key social amenities.

They say they have a feeling that their parliamentary representative, Hon. Emmanuel Kwaasi Bedzrah is only taking them on a fools’ ride and does not mean we’ll for them.

They recalled that the MP promised the the community a good and decent toilet facility but for years now the promise has not materialized, neither are there any encouraging words from the quarters of the MP.

Currently, the entire Tsawoenu community relies on the school’s place of convienence, and another old and dilapidated toilet facilty that has become a death trap, whiles majority of the youth are compelled to use the bush anytime nature calls.

In separate interviews with Ghananewsonline.com.gh, the women in the community lamented bitterly about the nature of their water. They say it is too salty and makes everyday life almost uncomfortable.

They say it does not foam and causes their clothes to fade off quickly.

“Our water is also not too good for drinking but we have no choice, either we buy sachet water which is also having its share of issues with us because of the current economy hardship or we boil water the traditional way.

“My dear, there are only two mechanized boreholes in this whole community which feeds nearly 500 people. This means we the women have to wake up as early as 3:00 am to go and queue in order to have water in our households,” one of them bitterly lamented.

Drivers and road users also complained about the nature of the road at night as most of the street lights have gone off for years without any attempt to repair, leaving most roads thick dark and scary at night.

They cited for example that a couple of weeks ago, a big truck carrying loads of underwears headed towards Accra veered of the road and run into a deep hole by the road side because the driver could hardly see.

To avoid such incidents and more in the near future, the chief, elders and people of Tsawoenu are asking that the government comes to their aid urgently with social amenities to give them some relief.
