Nana Ekye Kwaw II, Chief of Kwawkrom in the Juaboso Constituency in the Western North Region must count himself lucky to still be alive today.
Narrating his ordeal, Nana maintained that while driving his car in the company of his aged grandfather from Kofikrom to Kwawkrom on November 9, 2014, he was attacked by a gang of armed men, numbering about eleven (11) a few kilometres to Kwawkrom.
He told ghananewsonline.com.gh in an interview that in the process, he was dragged out of his car, beaten to pulp and robbed of his money and other belongings including stool regalia.
According to him his aged grandfather was not spared the attack and also beaten with sticks, rendering him crippled to date.
According to Nana, for the next two weeks after that brutal attack on him, he did not know where he was. He stated that he gained consciousness only to realize that he was on admission at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.
He said that after his discharge, he lodged a complaint with the Juaboso Police, and seven of his attackers were arrested and arraigned before the Circuit Court in Bibiani, also in the Western North Region.

The seven persons he named as Michael Appiah, Thomas Oti, John Ayisi Agyin, Seidu Samuel, Dokyi – Adjei Dickmond, Yaw Mosi and Kofi Beditor.
Nana Ekow said that his attackers were arrested by the Police and arraigned before the Magistrate Court at Bibiani where they admitted the offence. However after pleading profusely with the Court and the complainant (Nana Ekow), the court was taken out of court for an amicable settlement home.
RING LEADERS BOLT, BUT RESURFACE 8 YEARS LATER RAISING SHOULDERS
According to Nana Ekow, the ring leaders of the heinous crime Yaw Gyabeng and Kwadwo Duku managed to escape Police arrest and bolted to an unknown destination. However, eight (8) years on, they returned to Kwawkrom not only raising their shoulders, but also claiming to be untouchable, while threatening Nana Ekow’s life for daring to cause their arrest.
POLICE DRAG FEET TO ARREST THEM
Nana Ekow maintained that, feeling uneasy and threatened by his returnee attackers, he reported the matter to the Juaboso Police once more for the arrest of the two. However, the Police led by one Chief Inspector Solo claimed that the case had already been settled so the two fugitives could not be arrested.
NANA’S LAWYERS JUMP IN
Nana Ekow stated that, being unhappy about the stand of the Police and feeling threatened, he approached his lawyers, Obeng – Manu Esq. and Co, who wrote a strong worded petition to the Inspector General of Police through the Regional Police Commander, where upon Yaw Gyabeng and Kwadwo Duku were arrested and arraigned before the Bibiani Grant Court. Meanwhile, the case has been slated for June 30, 2021 for hearing.
