Torgbi Korkudjaah Boafo-Tamakloe, Chief of Akatsavakpor in the Klikor traditional area of the Volta region, has called on Ghanaians to embrace peace and unity, saying they were two cornerstones for the socio-economic progress of society.
Torgbi Korkudjaah Boafo-Tamakloe was speaking at a colorful durbar to climax activities that marked the 10th anniversary of the area’s Kente festival on Saturday, October 26.
According to the traditional ruler, no community can achieve any meaningful progress in an atmosphere of chaos hence the need for unity and fellow-feeling among all.
He identified greed and self-seeking attitudes that “would only further divide us and retard our progress,” calling for a change in the status quo.
He urged people of the community and the larger Klikor traditional area to change their attitudes take their destiny into their own hands and forge together for self-help projects towards economic freedom.
On the upcoming general election in days, the traditional ruler advised political parties and all stakeholders to prioritize Ghana’s peace and security above all other interests to ensure that the country retains its enviable position as a beacon of hope and peace in the sub-region.
