Christmas: Mix Reactions on Expectations of Businesses at Sowutuom

Ahead of the Christmas and new year celebrations this year, Ghananewsonline.com.gh has been speaking with some citizens for their views on how they intend to celebrate the season. They also expressed their views on doing business around the season.

At Sowutuom a suburb of Accra, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ella Beauty Hub, Nana Akosua, told our roving reporter that she invested all her money into her business ahead of the Christmas season with the expectation of making better sales than last year, however, “market is very bad and i have nothing to celebrate with my family,” she stated.

Mr Divine Kuma, a civil servant, complained that work has not been good for him as his salary was yet to hit his account, hence he has nothing to offer his loved ones.

Beatrice Aseuo, a worker at a wholesale shop said she has received new items for the Christmas but no one is purchasing her them.

Sister Portia, who works at a cosmetics shop said noted that, she is ready to offer services to her customers, but market has been slow in moving, “slower than expected”.

Madam Rita Fofi of ‘Kids World said, “there is no activity going on in the community when compared to last year. She also said “business and sales have been low”.

Also, a beautician and proprietor of Adom Salon – sister Ama said, “she has not invested any new capital into her business these Christmas season but market has been quite OK for her. She is expecting better sales.

Madam Hannah Mensah of Hannah’s Creation said her investment into her business these Christmas is paying off as she has seen
good sales, “people purchase their materials outside the town and bring them to me to sow,” she stated.
