Complete Abandoned Hospitals And Stop Wasting Taxpayers Money – Mahama To Akufo-Addo

“One of the heartbreaking developments for me as a politician has been the number of health facilities that have been opened by previous governments and then abandoned,“I take this opportunity to encourage the administration and the President to stop this waste of taxpayers’ money and take urgent steps to complete these hospitals.”

President Nana Akufo-Addo and his administration must stop wasting taxpayers’ money by abandoning hospitals established by previous administrations, former President John Mahama said.

“One of the heartbreaking developments for me as a politician has been the number of health facilities that have been opened by previous governments and then abandoned,” Mr Mahama said at the inauguration of a maternity and children’s ward he built with his wife on their 30th  Wedding anniversary.

“I take this opportunity to encourage the administration and the President to stop this waste of taxpayers’ money and take urgent steps to complete these hospitals.”

The former President told the gathering that “It is very fitting that on this auspicious occasion of the Pearl Jubilee we return home and give back to this wonderful city that nurtured me in my early childhood years.”

The 9,000-square-foot ward has 10 cots, 5 height-sensing scales, a kangaroo mother and child care center, a delivery room with two delivery beds, and a recovery ward. According to Mr. Mahama, the newly inaugurated wards also include “a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) with 3 incubators, 5 phototherapy units and a baby scale… we also have an operating room with 2 operating beds, operating light and stool. We have also provided rooms for sterilization, examination” and “doctor’s office, nurses’ workstations and a laundry room”.

In her speech, former First Lady and President of the Lordina Foundation, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, said “today is one of the happiest days of my life”.

She added: “Today we celebrate life; we celebrate health and wellness; We celebrate our people and their aspirations, and we celebrate the outcome of that beautiful vision.”

Ms. Mahama is optimistic that the new maternity and children’s wards will help provide optimal health care to the good people of Bole and the surrounding area, noting that “this is our heartfelt contribution to the dear people of this community.”

She was also full of praise for her husband. “I would like to thank my dear husband, President John Dramani Mahama, for his support in building this facility.”
