Concerned Drivers endorse Mahama’s “Clear Policy Interventions” for the Transport Sector

“The much awaited hope is here. It’s really the first time a key political figure has announced clearly to drivers policy interventions that would not only be beneficial to our sector but to also ensure our welfare.

In a significant development ahead of the upcoming elections, the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana has announced its endorsement of Former President John Dramani Mahama’s campaign promises aimed at the transportation sector.

In a press statement issued earlier today, the association highlighted several key policy initiatives put forth by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, expressing optimism about their potential to transform the lives of drivers across the country.

One of the central pillars of Mahama’s promises is the introduction of a hire purchase scheme for vehicles. According to the association, this initiative holds the promise of easing the burden of vehicle ownership, particularly for those struggling to afford even secondhand vehicles in the current economic climate.

Mahama has also pledged to establish a pension scheme specifically tailored to drivers, a move that has been warmly welcomed by the association. They noted that drivers often face significant financial challenges upon retirement, and the proposed scheme offers hope for a more secure future for the sector’s workforce.

The promise to construct ultramodern bus terminals nationwide also garnered praise from the association. They emphasized the dire state of many existing terminals and expressed optimism about the potential improvements in facilities and amenities for both passengers and drivers.

Additionally, Mahama’s proposal to institute a Drivers’ Day, dedicated to celebrating the contributions of drivers to the nation, was hailed as a gesture of recognition and appreciation for the vital role played by drivers in Ghana’s economy.

Speaking on behalf of the association, National Chairman – Paa Willie, underscored the importance of these promises in addressing the challenges faced by drivers and called on all stakeholders to support Mahama’s vision for a better Ghana.

“The much awaited hope is here. It’s really the first time a key political figure has announced clearly to drivers policy interventions that would not only be beneficial to our sector but to also ensure our welfare. While we commend the NDC’s flagbearer for exhibiting much concern about us we wish to caution him against turning his back on us after winning the elections. We urge all stakeholders to join us in supporting John Mahama’s vision for a better Ghana,” he noted.

The endorsement by the Concerned Drivers Association adds momentum to Mahama’s campaign efforts, particularly in the transportation sector, where his promises have struck a chord with those directly impacted by the policies.

With the elections drawing closer, the endorsement signals growing support for Mahama’s agenda among key stakeholders, setting the stage for a closely contested race as political parties vie for the mandate to lead Ghana forward.
