Owner and Publisher of The Events Newspaper, Graham Kofi Baldwin, has suggested to West African Leaders that, “corruption, selflessness and arrogance within their various governments is the cause of Military takeovers in the West African Sub Region.
West African leaders are currently in the Ghanaian capital, Accra for an Extraordinary Summit of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.
The summit is focusing on the political situation in Mali and other parts of the region.
They are expected to review progress made by Mali’s military Junta on the return of the country to democratic rule.
They are expected to also review the situations in the Republic of Burkina Faso and Guinea.
ECOWAS had condemned the military takeover of governments in Mali, Guinea and Burkina Faso, imposing sanctions on the military junta in those countries.
Meanwhile, Publisher of The Events Newspaper, Graham Kofi Baldwin has said that, the summit is another “tea and biscuit party for these leaders” insisting that, the corruptions and arrogance including selfishness within these various governments is cause of the military takeovers in the sub region.
“They run their various economies to their knees, take showers in the air and create, loot and share with their families and friends” he said adding that, they should get serious with the poor people of West Africa.
“I do not support military takeovers however in finding lasting solutions to the instability within the sub region, these leaders must stop stealing public money and that is the only way this rather dangerous animal can be prevented in the sub region.
“The corruption especially in West African governments and the love for power has become something they want to normalize” he said.
To him the decision to converge in Accra to seek solutions to the menace is misplaced because the selfishness, greed and most importantly corruption are the cause of the instabilities we are witnessing,” he finally said.
