Mampong Akwapim Traditional Council and the Akwapim North Municipal Assembly will lockdown the town from 8:00pm today Thursday, April 16, 2020.
According to the Apesemakahene of Mampong Akwiapim, Nana Yirenkyi I, the decision became necessary due to the increasing Covid-19 cases in the country.
He indicated that during the lockdown, only food sellers would be allowed to open their shops.
He said, there is the need for residents to stay at home since anybody found flouting the orders would be prosecuted.
In an interview with ghananewsonline.com.gh, Nana Apesemakahene who is in charge of communication for the council hinted that “we are doing this with the Ghana Police Service and the military, and if anyone fails to comply with this protocol, he or she will be dealt with appropriately.”
He noted that the Traditional Council and the Assembly are doing this to avoid the spread of Covid 19.
