Apesemakahene of Mampong Akwapim Traditional Council, Nana Yirenkyi I, has appealed to residents in Akwapim and its surrounding communities to stay home so as to avoid the spread of Covid-19.
According to him there are plans by the Municipal Assembly and relevant agencies to close down all drinking bars in the entire Akwapim traditional area.
Nana Yirenkyi I said he has had a discussion with the MCE where the decision to bring that order to fruition was made known to him.
He explained that the assembly wants to take such a decision because of the fear that some people are moving from the COVID-19 affected areas and communities into Akwapim.
He said, the assembly in its bid to protect the lives of residents is determined to take such a decision and it is in the interest of the people.
The Apesemakanhene also urged members of the community to report to the authorities should they receive visitors from anywhere outside their homes, adding that, “all that is in the interest of containing the spread of the virus”.
