Curse-invoking Wontumi set to face Antoa deity today – Report

Chairman Wontumi and the Kokosohene will make a trip to the famous Antoa town to perform the traditional rites. The politician was however cleared of disrespecting the Asantehene in a separate charge.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi is set to visit the ‘Antoa Nyamaa’ deity later today, sources familiar with the development have confirmed.

The sources say the NPP stalwart will be performing traditional rites to lift the curse he invoked against the Kokosohene, Nana Kwaku Duah.

Chairman Wontumi admitted during a Kumasi Traditional Council meeting at the Manhyia Palace on Monday (29 January) that he invoked the ‘Antoa Nyamaa’ deity out of anger, expressing frustration over false accusations. The traditional leaders reprimanded him for invoking the curse, emphasizing that such actions are prohibited in Asanteman.

Dailymailgh.com understands that a delegation including Chairman Wontumi and the Kokosohene will make a trip to the famous Antoa town to perform the traditional rites. The politician was however cleared of disrespecting the Asantehene in a separate charge.

The Kokosohene, Nana Kwaku Duah, was cautioned to refrain from engaging in partisan politics, and the Bantamahene advised him to remain neutral as a chief. Notably, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, who was also summoned for disrespecting Asante chiefs, was absent from the palace, with no mention of his case.
