Damongo: Knowledge Acquisition Is A Continuous Process- DCE Advises Graduants

Modernization of agriculture has been the focus of the NPP government as a solution to transform the agriculture sector to accelerate growth as this will quicken the pace towards full domestic food security.

The District Chief Executive of Gonja West District Hon Saeed Muhazu Jibril has started that learning is a continuous process and therefore, does not end after one completes any tertiary institution. He said “educational does not stop after you graduate from college, or finish MBA or PHD either”. He continued “if we stop learning, progress in all industries, finance, engineering, biology amongst others stop as well and you are not going to get very far in life based on what you already know.” “You must therefore, endeavor to continuously update your knowledge in order to improve upon your skills” he added.

The DCE was speaking at a graduation ceremony of the Damongo Agricultural College in the  Savannah regional capital.

He pointed out that Modernization of agriculture has been the focus of the NPP government as a solution to transforming the agriculture sector to accelerate growth as this will quicken the pace towards full domestic food security. However, he said, it is obvious that these policies cannot be realized when agricultural students are not well trained to impact the right knowledge onto farmers. He urged the graduants not to relent on their efforts to support government in diverse ways to achieve its objectives.

The principal of the college Mr. Mohammed Nuhu Adam revealed that due to the introduction of degree program in the college this year, the school is badly in need of classroom blocks and accommodation for teachers and students. He, therefore, appealed to government to expand infrastructure to accommodate the increasing number.

Talking about successes, the principal mentioned that the college was awarded the best institution under the planting for food and jobs at the 2019 district farmers day awards . Again, the college in partnership with GiZ has been able to construct a new farm machinery workshop and procure a new tractor and accessories. The college has also started commercial egg and maize production to help serve the people of the area and beyond.

A total of 128 students made up of 98 males and 30 females were awarded with certificates.
