The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Mponua in the Ashanti region, Hon Isaac Kofi Marfo, has stated emphatically that all developmental project agenda in the District are done by the NPP government starting from President John Agyekum Kufour’s era through to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s era.
He made this known at a community durbar at Afepaye to inspect the ongoing reshaping of roads by DRIP Machines where he condemned the unfortunate press conference held by Hon Stephen Yeboah, the Atwima Mponua Constituency NDC Parliamentary Candidate who alleged that residents of Afepaye are paying fuel to support the DRIP machines work.
“The PNDC/NDC government has ruled Ghana for almost 27 years, yet they have not done anything for Afepaye, parts of our roads were constructed in 2006 by former President Kufuor before the NPP lost power.
“Stephen Yeboah was once our MP, when our chiefs asked him to construct our roads for us, he told them blatantly that he wouldn’t do it. Thanks to President Nana Addo, we have the DRIP machines which will help us to construct our roads.
“Stephen Yeboah is now spreading rumors that I have told the people of Afepaye to pay GHc50.00 to buy fuel to support the machines. We brought 6 machines into this community and we buy almost GHc20,000 worth of fuel, look at the population in this community and ask yourself if we will be able to buy fuel to run the machines if we collect the said amount from them.
“All that Stephen Yeboah has been saying is not true and should be treated with the contempt it deserves,” he said.
Afepaye Dikro, Nana Nsiah Asiedu III, clarified the unfounded allegations by NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Hon Stephen Yeboah.
Nana said he was the one who at asked his people to pay GHc20.00 to support the workers who will be operating the machines in the community.
“All that people are saying that the DCE is collecting money from us to buy diesel in the DRIP machines is false.
“I was the one who told the residents to pay something small to those who will be working on the machines, the DCE has not asked anybody to pay any amount, I was the one who told my people to pay GHc20.00 to support the workers,” he said
Nana Nsiah Asiedu III said he will summon Stephen Yeboah to answer questions concerning the allegations and if he bans him from campaigning in Afepaye should he fail to show up.
“The DCE is innocent of all those allegations, even when I was telling my people to pay that money, the DCE was far gone. I will summon Assana, Karim, and Stephen Yeboah and they will have to show me where the DCE said we should the money, if they fail to come, I will ban them from campaigning in our community.” Nana told our reporter
The Unite Committee Chairman of Afepaye Electoral Area, Mr Kwadwo Simon, added his voice to the unfounded allegations saying all developments done are by the NPP government and not NDC and henceforth should not come there for a campaign or would face demonstrations by the youth and Afepayeman at large.
