Dec. 7 polls: Trust us to deliver on our mandate – EC to Ghanaians

This appeal follows the announcement of the publication of ballot statistics, which will guide the printing of the Presidential and Parliamentary Election ballots.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has called on the public to have confidence in their ability to deliver a transparent and efficient electoral process for the upcoming 2024 general elections.

This appeal follows the announcement of the publication of ballot statistics, which will guide the printing of the Presidential and Parliamentary Election ballots.

In a statement issued on Monday, 14 October 2024, the EC explained that the ballot statistics were derived by considering the total number of voters on the 2024 Provisional Voters Register (PVR) and applying a two percent increase.

“We are confident that the methodology relied upon, that is utilising the total number of voters on the PVR plus a two percent increase to guide the printing of ballots, is adequate and will not result in shortfalls or unnecessary wastage,” the Commission stated.

The EC emphasised that while they welcome and encourage high voter turnout on Election Day, they also recognise that not every registered voter will participate in the election.

The Commission noted that the practice of adding a percentage increase to voter statistics for ballot printing has been a standard procedure since 1992.

“We entreat the Public to trust us to deliver on our mandate,” the EC added, reiterating their commitment to ensuring a smooth electoral process.
