Di Asa: Organizers debunk failed flight trip rumors

Organizers of the popular dance reality show on Atinka TV, “Di Asa” have told the general public to ignore rumors about the flight issues of Precious Mensah (PM), winner of Season 3, in traveling to Dubai as part of her winning package.

The organizers of the show, Atinka Media Village (AMV), debunked rumors that the Emirates Airlines denied her flight access to Dubai because of her “weight.”

In a press statement released today, signed by the managing director of AMV, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, and copied to Ghananewsonline.com.gh, he stated that, the Airline gave no “tangible reason” as to why PM’s check-in process was not completed.

“At about 5:30 pm, a few minutes to boarding time, when all the queens had completed the check-in process, an Emirates official, informed us (AMV) that the Airline could not complete the Check-in process for PM without offering tangible or logical reasons.”

According to the organizers, all necessary arrangements to enable the contestants travel to Dubai were provided, hence the complications they faced later came as a surprise.

“All the necessary arrangements to enable them embark on this important tour were duly provided. Key among them were Visas, a Four-star Hotel Accommodation in Dubai, Per Diem, Money for shopping and Flight tickets based on the advice of the Emirates Airline ticketing Agent.”

They added that “the airline ticketing agent had been duly informed that the tickets were for plus- sized passengers (Di Asa Season 3 winners)”.

According to the organizers, the Emirates Airlines treated PM poorly as attempts to remedy the situation by paying for an extra seat also failed.

They however assured the winner of the show that, “[they] will do everything possible to accord her the prize she deserves including but not limited to adequate compensation by Emirates Airline and fight all forms of discrimination against plus sized persons”.
