The pro-NPP media house falsely claimed in their 6am news bulletin that the La people attacked the Military at the KPLETSO LANDS on 15th April, 2020.
It is on record that a Citi FM reporter who was present on that fateful day was assaulted by the Military, not by La people and gave an eyewitness report of events on the 15th April, 2020 edition of the Citi FM Eyewitness News.
Strangely, ten days after the incident, the same Citi FM is claiming that the La people rather attacked the Military and government is trying to resolve the matter by forming a 5-member Committee for the purpose.
The Deputy Lands Minister, Benito Owusu Bio, who was interviewed in the news bulletin and may have misled the Newscaster confirmed the setting up of the 5-member Committee.
The composition of the Samuel Abu Jinapor 5-member Committee is the same as the Ansoma-Kyeremeh 5-member Committee on the same issue; do we expect a different outcome?
Benito Owusu Bio who was a part of the two (2) year process leading to the decision to return the KPLETSO LANDS to the La Stool, however, did not say the real reason for the new Lands Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor setting up the 5-member Committee to review the work of his predecessor;
REASON: BECAUSE ABU JINAPOR DID NOT TRUST HIS PREDECESSOR ANSOMA-KYEREMEH and therefore refused to implement the outcome of the two (2) years of meetings under his tenure.
Abu Jinapor gave a two (2) week ultimatum for the subcommittee to review the work of Asoma Kyeremeh was part of a two (2) month timeframe he had set for taking a final decision on the Release of the KPLETSO LANDS to the La Stool as directed by the President.
Do individual Ministers of the government work for themselves?
Did Ansoma-Kyeremeh as Lands Minister take the decisions without the President or Cabinet approval?
Can the decisions of Samuel Abu Jinapor also be overturned by his successor?
Was President Akufo Addo misled into directing that the KPLETSO LANDS be returned to the La Stool before Easter 2021?
Incidentally, while Abu Jinapor was meeting with the La Traditional Council to restart the two (2) year process leading to the decision to return the KPLETSO LANDS to the La Stool, President Akufo Addo was meeting with the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council at the JUBILEE HOUSE and promised to return their lands to them.
WHY THE UNNECESSARY DELAY IN RELEASING LA LANDS TO THE LA STOOL.
There are “interested PEOPLE” beyond the Military who are hiding behind the Military and using the name of the Military to stall the process.
There is no such thing as military land.
Whoever gave the orders for the Military to attack journalists and other unarmed citizens must be brought to book.
Whoever did the deployment of the violent men in Ghana Army Uniforms to shoot live bullets and use the butt and nozzle of riffles to inflict injuries on the journalists and other unarmed citizens must be brought to book.
The destruction of vehicles, stealing of personal belongings of the journalists and La citizens in the presence of the Police from La Division and Regional Police Command must be thoroughly investigated and the perpetrators who were in Ghana Army Uniforms must be brought to book.
The LANDGUARDS who were in Ghana Army Uniforms were caught on camera; they must individually like the Killers of George Floyd, must be brought to book to curb the abuse of power on unarmed civilians by men in uniform.
The terms of reference for Abu Jinapor’s 5-member Committee had nothing in it relating to the events of 15th April, 2021 and therefore the Citi FM news report and the account of Benito Owusu Bio were false and deliberately misleading.
A retraction, apology and correction of the facts will greatly help resolve the impasse.
Failure to state the TRUTH and rather peddle falsehoods like was done in the Citi FM 6am News bulletin this morning, will embolden the unruly men in Ghana Army Uniforms to be more violent and beat more journalists or even shoot to kill.
DO NOT ADD TO THE INJURY.
