The maiden edition of the Downstream Dialogue 2025, organized by the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), commenced on Tuesday February 18, 2025 at the Fiesta Royale Hotel in Accra. The two-day event, themed “Ghana’s Downstream Oil and Gas Sector: Challenges and Opportunities,” is bringing together key industry stakeholders to deliberate on critical issues facing the sector.

Delivering the keynote address, the Acting Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, outlined strategic measures being implemented by the NPA to facilitate the government’s 24-hour economy policy within the oil and gas industry. He emphasized that these efforts aim to enhance efficiency, affordability, and sustainability in the downstream petroleum sector.

Mr. Tameklo reiterated the NPA’s commitment to fair pricing mechanisms and strict regulatory compliance to ensure a level playing field for industry players. He emphasized the importance of affordability, quality, and reliability in the supply of petroleum products, noting that these factors are crucial for both economic growth and consumer protection.

He reaffirmed his dedication to strengthening collaboration among industry stakeholders and called for collective efforts to build a resilient petroleum sector that meets the evolving needs of the Ghanaian economy.

The event was graced by high-profile personalities, including the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Jinapor, the Deputy Minister Designate, Hon. Richard Gyan-Mensah, and the Deputy Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority, Dr. Sheila Addo. Their presence underscored the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges and harnessing the opportunities within Ghana’s downstream oil and gas sector.

The Downstream Dialogue 2025 continues tomorrow with panel discussions and expert presentations aimed at shaping the future of Ghana’s petroleum industry.
