Director of Elections and IT of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has again strongly criticized the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, following her press conference on Thursday afternoon.
In a social media post on Facebook, Dr. Boamah labeled the press conference as “useless,” accusing Jean Mensa of acting under the influence of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to undermine the NDC’s two-thirds majority in Parliament.
“She has obviously been instructed by NPP to dilute the 2/3 majority of NDC. But she will fail!” Dr. Boamah wrote.
He further warned the EC Chair not to “tempt us beyond our endurance,” emphasizing that the NDC is determined to defend its victories in constituencies where election results have not been officially declared. According to him, the EC should have pink sheets proving that the NDC won in these areas.
Dr. Boamah also expressed disappointment with the EC’s decision to hold a press conference instead of convening an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting as requested by the NDC. He accused Jean Mensa of avoiding accountability by evading critical questions that would arise at an IPAC meeting.
“This decision to hide is shameful,” he added, criticizing the EC for what he perceives as a lack of transparency and impartiality in its actions.
The remarks have sparked reactions across the political spectrum, with NDC supporters echoing Dr. Boamah’s sentiments and demanding greater accountability from the EC.
This development comes at a critical time as tensions remain high following the disputed outcomes in some constituencies after the elections. Both the NPP and NDC continue to scrutinize the electoral process, further intensifying the post-election political climate.
